I have started insulating the underside of the decks as I finalize what will be attached to the decks topside. I am using an insulative paint called Nansulate (www.nansulate.com), that uses nanotechnology to prevent thermal transfer. I will write up a more detailed discussion of this on the Bristol29 website, but briefly, using a laser thermometer, the underside of the foredeck in direct afternoon sunlight was about 105 F before painting. After three coats that temp has been reduced to about 88F. I will apply about three more coats before being finished. I plan to use the paint on all inside surfaces that contact either water or air.
